Historic Trenton NJ is the state’s capital and the seat of power for the new Neocon darling Chris Christie. There are a few other things of note about Trenton New Jersey, among them, is how dangerous Trenton has become in the past couple of years.
Chris Christie has yet to address this. Sorry Governor we don’t mean to interfere with your vice presidential wet dreams
For a long time now Trenton has been the kind of place where taking an evening constitutional might be the last thing you do , unless you are channeling Charles Bronson, however since the Obama election in 2008 Trenton has been on a sliding slope of increasing crime and poverty.
Governor Chris Christie hasn’t done much either and the public and the press hasn’t paid all that much attention preferring instead to focus on Christie’s very loud and very boisterous yet very empty rhetoric.
This should teach us all, yet again, what happens when we make deals with a government in exchange for our God given civil rights.
Well, as if the entire city gathered all it’s angst and a primal scream in a loud bubble of fear that finally made it’s way tot the top of a tar pit, all that changed a couple of days ago. No, not because Christie did his job, or because the media did theirs but because the gangsters and criminals in Trenton are busy at “work” doing their” jobs.”
Trenton’s acting police director abruptly pulled all officers working foot patrols off their beats and put them in vehicles on Monday night after a gang threat against the officers’ lives was deemed “credible.”
Trenton’s gangsters are calling the shots on Trenton’s streets and the police is running scared. I don’t fault the police at all, they are brave men and women, doing a job and like all of us would very much like to go home to their loved ones at the end of their shift.
The problem is the complete lack of any political leadership both at the municipal level and at the state level.
While Chris Christie is busy enforcing draconian unconstitutional anti gun laws against the law abiding citizens of NJ the gangsters have miraculously found ways to get guns and enough of them to take the cops off the streets. Imagine that? Maybe Chris Christie can pass additional anti gun laws; those no doubt will immediately turn gangsters into law abiding citizens and prevent them from acquiring weapons.
While the police pull out is garnering a few local headline – the national media is nowhere to be found on this – the plight of the ordinary citizens of Trenton is largely unnoticed.
If it’s too dangerous for the cops to walk the streets of Trenton, what chance do the citizens of Trenton have against the gangsters?
What choices do the citizens of Trenton have? If they get a gun to defend themselves they risk going to jail automatically under the worst anti second amendment laws in the nation. If they walk the streets unarmed they continue to be easy pray for the gangsters of Trenton.
The contact and covenant that the state of New Jersey has made with the citizens of Trenton is broken and Christie is guilty of violating that contract. The contract implies simply that the citizens of Trenton and NJ agreed to have their gun rights curtailed and in return the government promised that instead it will provide the protection that would be otherwise afforded by the possession of firearms. By pulling cops of the beat, Governor Chris Christie in clearly in violation of the contract! This should teach us all, yet again, what happens when we make deals with a government in exchange for our God given civil rights.
It’s great to read smoehtnig that’s both enjoyable and provides pragmatisdc solutions.
